Á Journal of the seige of Pensacola West Florida 1781
Friday March 9th.
Appeared a Spanish Fleet consisting of about 32 Sail of Vessels—The same Night they Landed near 500 Men on Rose Island. About 12 Oclock at Night the Childers, Arm'd Brigg got safe out bound for Jamaica.
Saturday 10th.
The Spaniards took the Port Royals, Boat and Crew consisting of 9 Men, who went on shore at Rose Island for their Stock—Gaptain Roberts arrived this afternoon with a Schooner which he took on Wednesday night last near Round Island; She liad on Board General Galvez's Baggage and Stoc. &.
Sunday 11th.
The Enemy erected Batteries on Rose Island wich oblidg'd the Mentor and Port Royal to quit their Station. Some of their vessels attempted to come over the Bar, but put back, one of them struck Ground as she was coming in but got off again in about 20 Minutes.
Monday 12th.
From the Fort of the Clifts they Fired 3 Guns at the Enemy, who were erecting a Battery on Rose Island, which occasioned them to quit.

Viernes, 9 de marzo—
Apareció una flota española formada por una escuadra de unos 32 navíos. Esa misma noche, cerca de 500 hombres tomaron tierra en Rose Island. Alrededor de las doce de la noche el "Childers", bergantín armado, zarpó intacto rumbo a Jamaica.
Sábado, 10 de marzo.—
Los españoles se apoderaron de un bote del "Port Royal" y de la tripulación, compuesta de 9 hombres que bajaron a tierra en Rose Island para hacer provisiones. El capitán Roberts llegó esta tarde con una goleta que había capturado en la noche del pasado miércoles cerca de Round Island; tenía a bordo el equipaje y provisiones del general Gálvez, etc.
Domingo, 11 de marzo.—
El enemigo edificó baterías en Rose Island, obligando al "Mentor" y "Port Royal" a dejar su apostadero. Algunos de sus buques intentaron cruzar la barra, pero se retiraron; uno de ellos encalló cuando entraba, pero se puso de nuevo a flote en unos veinte minutos.
Lunes, 12 de marzo.—
Desde el fuerte de Barrancas hicieron fuego tres cañones sobre el enemigo que estaba construyendo una batería en Rose Island, obligándolos a renunciar.
