Tuesday 8th.
About Nine Oclock this Morning one of the Enemys Shells fell in the Magazine at the upper Redoubt, and blew the whole up and all the People within 20; That soon after about 2000 of the Enemy advanced and formed to Storm the Center Redoubt but seen us well prepared to receive them, and saluting them with a nine Pounder retired in the lover of the Ruins of the Redoubt. A very heavy Fire ensued between us and the Enemy with Cannon and small arms, We had an Officer wounded and about 30 Men. About 3 Oclock the White Flagg was hoisted at Fort George when we had a long Conf erence with the Enemy.
Wednesday 9th.
In Consequence of the Capitulation General Galvez about 3 Oclock Marched with a party of Grenadiers and took possesion of the Town of Pensacola.
Thursday 10th.
Agreable to the Capitulation the British Troops Marched out of their Different Posts with all the Honors of War.
Martes, 8 de mayo.—
Alrededor de las nueve de esta mañana uno de los proyectiles del enemigo cayó en el almacén del reducto superior, volando todo junto con veinte personas que estaban dentro. Poco tiempo después unos 2.000 hombres del enemigo avanzaron y formaron para asaltar el reducto central, pero viéndolos bien preparados para recibirlos y saludándolos con un 9 libras, se retiraron a las ruinas del reducto inferior. Sobrevino un fuego muy nutrido entre nosotros y el enemigo, con cañones y armas cortas. Tuvimos un oficial y unos 30 hombres heridos. Cerca de las tres fue izada la bandera blanca en el fuerte George, cuando tuvimos una larga conferencia con el enemigo.
Miércoles, 9 de mayo.—
Alrededor de las tres, como consecuencia de la capitulación, el general Gálvez desfiló con un grupo de granaderos y tomó posesión de la ciudad de Pensacola.
Jueves, 10 de mayo.—
Conforme con la capitulación las tropas británicas salieron de sus distintas guarniciones con todos los honores de guerra.
