Sir:
Give me leave to informe you of our safe & hapy arival in this Capital on the 12 of this present month — the multitude of new objects before our contemplation & numerous bussines I have upon my hands at present deprives me of the pleasure of mentioning you more particularly the incidents of our journey throught this singular & most curious Country, the next oportunity I shall do my self this honour — & beg you in the midle time to present my best compliments to Mrs. Ward, Cap. Besset & Col. Lesley which politenes & atention I shall remember with gratitude.

Permítame informarle de nuestra segura y feliz llegada a esta capital el 13 del presente mes. La multitud de cosas nuevas que se ofrecen a nuestra contemplación y numerosos asuntos que tengo actualmente entre manos, me privan del placer de contarle con más detalle los incidentes de nuestro viaje a través de este singular y muy curioso país. En una próxima oportunidad, tendré el honor de hacerlo y le ruego mientras tanto, presente mis respetos a la señora Ward, capitán Besset y coronel Lesley, cuya cortesía y atención recordaré con gratitud.
