Dear Friend.
The lettre which I wrote to you proposing an entrevue, was so guardedly written, that nothing can be made of it, shoul it have been intercepted from some expressions in your letter to which it was an answer, I thought that I had best direct it directly to Mr. E. Martin Bridge Road N° 6 —Westminster Bridge — London. It has certainly miscarried.— to prevent the same occurring again I endose this to our common Eriend, desiring him to send it carefully to your hands directly.
I write this the moment that I receive your's this morning and I trust we shall meet I add nothing I reserve all to that intervue. I am engaged here in a buisness which will not permitt me to be long from Bath.— and if I could the Place for own meet is best where I propose it, is best pour garder absolument le secret qui vous est recommandé.— at the "Sign o the Castle on Spinhill near Newberry" you have only to Name the day & hour & I will be as exact to the time as Port Horses can bring me. If you write by saturday's post I shall receive your letter Sunday Morning & will be ready to sett off as soon as I receive it. If you do not write by saturday's Post. You can not write till Monday & I cannot receive your letter till Tuesday morning. Yr assunred friend.

Estimado amigo:
La carta que escribí a V. proponiendo una entrevista estaba tan cautelosamente redactada que nada se podía sacar de ésta si hubiera sido interceptada. Por algunas expresiones en la carta de V., a la que ésta era una respuesta, pensé que debía mejor dirigirla directamente al señor F. Martin, Bridge Road, n° 6, Westminster Bridge, Londres. Seguramente se extravió. Para prevenir que lo mismo ocurra de nuevo, envío ésta a nuestro común amigo rogándole enviarla cuidadosamente a manos de V. directamente.
Escribo ésta en el momento que recibo la de V. esta mañana y confío en que nos reuniremos. No añado nada. Reservo todo para esa entrevista. Estoy ocupado aquí en un asunto que no me permitirá estar ausente de Bath mucho tiempo y si lo pudiera, el lugar para nuestro encuentro es mejor donde lo propongo es mejor para guardar absolutamente el secreto que le es recomendado a V en el cartel del Castillo, en Spinhill, cerca de Newberry, no tiene V. sino que fijar el día y la hora y seré lo exacto que lo permitan los caballos de posta que me llevan. Si escribe V. por el correo del sábado, recibiré su carta el domingo por la mañana y estaré preparado para salir en cuanto la reciba. Si no escribe por el correo del sábado, no puede hacerlo hasta el lunes y no puedo recibir la carta de V. hasta el martes por la mañana.
