I own that in proportion to the interest which I feel & take in the objet toujours le méme, I am not a little impatient, after having experienced for eleven years with patience Delays which have lost oportunities not to be recover'd I have but one object of my life l'objet toujours le méme: I cannot but wish to see that compleated before I dye; and then I shall dye in confort, not having lived in vain.
If you have not my Memorial to the Pour reigh of N. America, I wish you to get it & in the leisure of some future weeks, look it contains thesum & substance of all which I ever wrote respecting the unity peace liberty & hapiness of a State. Debret has has my three Memorials of which this is one. I wou'd have orderd him to send it to you: but that is best let alone —Your Secry can get it these.
I am very glad you named me where you did the manner in which they receiv'd the communication will enable you to judge whether their ideas extend to a permanent measure, or whether they are confined only to a temporary expedient.

Reconozco que en proporción al interés que siento y tomo en el "asunto, siempre el mismo", no estoy menos impaciente después de haber experimentado, con paciencia durante once años, retrasos que han hecho perder oportunidades que no se recuperaran. Tengo sólo un objetivo en mi vida, "el asunto siempre el mismo". No puedo sino desear verlo concluido antes de morir, y entonces moriré aliviado, no habiendo vivido en vano.
Si no tiene V. mi Memorial a los Cuatro reinos de Norteamérica, deseo lo compre y, cómodamente durante las próximas semanas, lo mire. Contiene la suma y esencia de todo lo que nunca escribí respecto a la unidad, paz, libertad y felicidad de un Estado. Debrett ha tenido mis tres Memoriales, de los cuales éste es uno. Le hubiese dicho que se lo enviara, pero es mejor no tenerlo en cuenta. El secretario de V. puede conseguírselo.
Me alegro mucho que V. me haya mencionado allá donde lo hizo. La manera en la que ellos recibieron la comunicación le permitirá a V. juzgar si las ideas de éstos llegan hasta una acción permanente o si están limitadas únicamente a un recurso pasajero. El afectuoso amigo de V.
