Sunday Api 22nd.
About 12 Oclock we observed the Enemy on a Hill about the distance of 900 Yards of the advanced Redoubt when we Fired at them; They then retreated, Inmediately some Indians and Crackers pursued them also a Detachment from the 60th. and Provincials Regiments who when got to their Ground found the Enemy had Retired to their Camp. We also find that Lieutt Gordon aid de Camp to General Campbell, when reconoitring found a Sketch of our Works and their own, and in it if shows us the manner they mean to attack the advanced Redoubt, which is their chief object. Finding this we Immagine the Engineer was Kill'd by one of the Cannon shot from the Redoubt, as close to a Tree a quantity of Blood was seen very near the place the plan was picked up, and the Enemy being in su en confussion.

Tuesday 24th.
About 7 Oclock in the Morn, our advanced Picquet under Command of Captain Byrd 60th Regt had a Skirmish with part of the Enemy who were advancing to the Ground where they mean to erect a Battery on but after a Platoon was Fired of 40 Men they retreated, The Enemy consisted of about 400 Men. About 1 Oclock a Brigg Anchord within a Mile, Half of the Fort cióse in shore, she Fired 2 Guns 24 Pounders we returned the fire from the Fort & 2 small redoubts, also 2 Howitzers was taken to the Water side and fired several times A short time after the Brigg returned to the Fleet again.
Domingo, 22 de abril.—
Alrededor de las doce observamos al enemigo sobre una colina, a una distancia de 900 yardas del reducto avanzado y abrimos fuego sobre él; entonces se retiraron. Inmediatamente, algunos indios y buscapiés los persiguieron, asimismo un destacamento de los 60? regimiento y Provincianos, que cuando llegaron a su terreno encontraron que el enemigo se había retirado a su campamento.
También supimos que el teniente Gordon, edecán del general Campbell, cuando efectuaba un reconocimiento, encontró un croquis de nuestras fortificaciones y de las suyas y en él se ve de qué manera piensan atacar el reducto avanzado que es su principal objetivo. Al encontrar esto, nos imaginamos que el ingeniero fue muerto por uno de los cañonazos disparados desde el reducto, ya que junto a un árbol, cerca del sitio donde se recogió el plano se vio mucha sangre, estando el enemigo en tal confusión.

Martes, 24 de abril.—
Cerca de las siete de la mañana nuestro piquete avanzado, bajo el mando del capitán Byrd del 609 regimiento, tuvo una escaramuza con parte del enemigo que avanzaba hacia el terreno donde piensan construir una batería; pero después de que un pelotón de 40 hombres abriese el fuego, se retiraron. El enemigo estaba compuesto por unos 400 hombres. Alrededor de la una un bergantín ancló a media milla del fuerte, arrimado a tierra, disparó dos cañones de 24 libras. Devolvimos el fuego desde el fuerte y dos pequeños reductos. También se llevaron dos obuses a la orilla y se dispararon varias veces. Poco tiempo después el bergantín volvió de nuevo a unirse a la flota.
