Wednesday 25th.
Yesterday about Sun down our Advanced picquet engaged with a party of the Enemy, and drove them back, and taken 1 Prisoner a French Man belonging to tbe Irisb Brigade he says they liad about 10.000 Men. Early this Morning the picquet had, an engagement with the Enemy and beat them off, we had one man dangerously wounded in the Body. Also carne in Yesterday (Dawes) an Express from the N. ward, Informing us of Lord Cornwallis totally defeating the Rebels. On which occasion about 8 Oclock we Fired a Feu de Joy.

Friday 27th.
About 11 Oclock a heavy firing ensued between a large party of the Enemy with 2 Field Pieces, and a party of Indians with 2 Field Pieces of ourAbout 1 Oclock we began to Fire Shells and great Guns from the Advanced Redoubt about 3 Oclock the Enemy retreated, Our People and Indians carne in, the latter brought in several Sculps, the Enemy was seen about 50 of them employ'd carrying off their Kill'd and Wounded; We lost not 1 Man.
Miércoles, 25 de abril.—
Ayer a la puesta del sol, nuestro piquete avanzado dio combate a un grupo del enemigo, lo rechazó y tomó un prisionero francés perteneciente a la brigada Irlandesa. Dice que tienen unos diez mil hombres. Esta mañana temprano, el piquete dio combate al enemigo y lo derrotó. Tuvimos un hombre seriamente herido en el cuerpo. También llegó ayer (Dawes) un expreso del Norte, informándonos que Lord Cornwallis había vencido totalmente a los rebeldes. Con este motivo, hacia las ocho, disparamos un "feu de joie".

Viernes, 27 de abril.
Alrededor de las once, sobrevino un nutrido tiroteo entre un grupo grande del enemigo, con dos piezas de artillería, y un grupo de indios, con dos piezas de artillería nuestra. Cerca de la una empezamos a disparar proyectiles y grandes cañonazos desde el reducto avanzado. Hacia las tres, el enemigo se retiró. Nuestra gente y los indios regresaron; estos últimos trajeron varios cueros cabelludos escalpados. Se vio al enemigo —unos cincuenta hombres— ocupados en llevar sus muertos y heridos; nosotros no perdimos ni un solo hombre.
