Wednesday May 2nd.
The Enemy open'd a Battery against of 6—24 Pounders about 9 Oclock this Morning—Intirely for the Advanced redoubt. We received about 530 Twenty four Pound Shots, and about 30 Shells in the Course of the Day. 16th Regt had 1 Corporal Killid 2 Drummers Wounded and 3 Seamen belonging to the Port Royal Wounded.
Thursday 3d.
Received from the Enemy about 523 Shots of the above weight, and 68 Shells.
Killed by the above One soldier 16th Regt. and 1 Soldier and Sailor wounded—Some of our People Yesterday and to Day have picked up Shot which the Enemy Fired at us to the Number of 400 which we gain an advantage by, as we can return them from our 24 pns.
Friday 4th.
Died this Morning that was Yesterday Wounded the Seaman P. R. We find that the Desertor who carne in from the Enemy on Saturday last returned to them again yesterday Evening. He giving us so many sufficient reasons for leaving them. Left us no room to suspect him, but now am apprehensive of his been a spy but it gives us great pleasure to think he can give them not other

Esta mañana, alrededor de las nueve, el enemigo abrió fuego totalmente hacia el reducto avanzado, con seis cañones de 24 libras. Nosotros recibimos durante el curso del día, unos 530 disparos de 24 libras y 30 proyectiles. El 169 regimiento tuvo un cabo muerto, dos tambores heridos y tres marineros heridos pertenecientes al "Port Royal".
Jueves, 3 de mayo.—
Recibido del enemigo unos 523 disparos del ya mencionado calibre y 68 proyectiles. Muertos por este motivo: un soldado del 169 regimiento, y heridos un soldado y un marinero. Ayer y hoy alguna de nuestra gente ha recogido proyectiles que el enemigo había disparado sobre nosotros en número de 400 que nos da ventaja, ya que podemos devolverlos desde nuestros cañones de 24 libras.
Viernes, 4 de mayo.
Esta mañana murió el marinero P.R. que fue herido ayer. Descubrimos que el desertor que vino del enemigo el pasado sábado, regresó donde ellos ayer al anochecer. Habiéndonos dado suficientes motivos para abandonarlos, no sospechamos de él, pero ahora temo de que sea un espía; sin embargo, nos da gran satisfacción saber que no puede darles otra
