Last Nigth 2 Desertors carne in from the Enemy, from the Irish Brigade, who tells us that Yesterday in the Engagement they had about 100 Killed and Wounded, about 11 Oclock 2 More Desertors carne in from the Enemy one of which was a Man who left us belonging to the Provincials.
Sunday 29th.

We found the Enemy approaching nearer us in several Parts.
Tuesday May 1st.
The Indian brought in a Spaniard Prisoner who was tortured very much by them, and it was with great difficulty we could save him from being killed, But by great persuasión of the General and otber Officers; with the gift of 4 Keggs of Rum, 6 Shirts, a Piece of Shouds, and a Medal for the Man who took him Saved his Life. The reason of the above is that sometime ago the Indians Brother was taken by a Spaniard, who killed him and made great jests of it, whinch agravated the Savage disposition so much that they was determined to have Blood for Blood.
Mr. Coibert with a party of Chickaraus and otber Indians in his return from the Clifts, met with some Spaniards Fishing, 10 of which they killed.

Anoche vinieron dos desertores de la brigada enemiga Irlandesa, y nos dijeron que ayer en el combate tuvieron unos cien muertos y heridos. Alrededor de las once, otros dos desertores vinieron del enemigo, uno de los cuales era un hombre que nos había dejado cuando pertenecía a los Provincianos.

Vimos al enemigo acercándose más a nosotros en varios lugares.
Martes, 19 de mayo—
Los indios trajeron un prisionero español, que fue muy torturado por ellos y conseguimos salvarlo de la muerte con gran dificultad y persuasión por parte del general y demás oficiales, con regalos de cuatro barriletes de ron, seis camisas, un trozo de obenque y una medalla para el hombre que lo apresó, salvando su vida. La razón de lo citado es que hace algún tiempo, el hermano del indio fue apresado por un español que lo mató e hizo grandes burlas de ello, cosa que agravó la disposición del salvaje de tal manera que estaban decididos a obtener sangre por sangre.
El Sr. Colbert con un grupo de chickaraus y otros indios, se encontró, a su regreso de Barrancas, con unos españoles pescando, de los cuales mataron diez.
