New York: July 20th. 1781.
Sir:
On the 14th. Inst. Genl. Campbell arrived safe at this place, and by your desire take the liberty of troubling you with a few lines, which indeed I could not omit in justice to the Master of the Transport appointed to convey the Genl, to N. Y. every accommodation that was in his power to afford the Genl, and his Family he has not omitted, not has he f ailed in one particular wherein he could oblige, with which I am desired by the Genl, to make you acquainted.
