This was an action to recover the amount of 4232 mill dollars, or 925 £ Sterling, under the following circunstances:— The defendant was agent at the Havannah for the Exchange of Spanish prisonners during the American War: two Spanish gentlemen, Don Christophal Viva, and Don Bueno Ventura Galba, who had been taken prisonners became indebted to the plaintiff in the sum in question; and wishing to remit it to him, applied for that purpose to teh partner of the defendant to forward it: he informed them that a considerable duty was payable upon the exportation of money which they refused to pay, and therefore the money was put on board the Diamond English Frigate to be conveyed to the defendant; and, infait it was received by him, After this the defendants partner was apprehended by the Spanish Government for beiq concerned with General Miranda in the illicit importation of English Merchandize, and for having been accessary to the exportation of this

Esta fue una demanda para recuperar la cantidad de 4.232 dólares o 925 Libras Esterlinas, tras las siguientes circunstancias: el demandado fue agente en la Habana para el intercambio de prisioneros Españoles durante la Guerra Americana. Dos caballeros Españoles, don Cristóbal Viva y don Bueno Ventura Galba, que habían sido hechos prisioneros, se endeudaron con el demandante por la cantidad en cuestión; y deseando remitírsela a él recurrieron con ese fin al socio del demandado para enviárselo. El les informó que un impuesto considerable debía ser pagado sobre la exportación de dinero, que ellos rehusaron pagar, y por lo tanto el dinero fue puesto a bordo del "Diamond", una fragata inglesa, para ser llevado al demandado y, de hecho, fue recibido por él.
